Green Wishes

Today Kyle taught me how to flush our toilets. Seriously, i kind of hated them because they were "green" and used less water but were half as effective? I even read the little label touting it as eco-friendly and "dual flush"...i thought that meant you could flush this toilet two times for every one flush of a standard toilet? Kyle thought the same thing until this weekend when he noticed the little graphic...down=1x, up=3x. incredible.

9:00pm, NBC HD.The Office 06x01 – Gossip. The Dunder-Mifflin staffers share gossip about the summer interns. Michael, feeling out of the fun chatter, desperately goes hunting for the next big rumor to spread. Meanwhile, opposite-sex issues rattle Andy.

9:30pm, NBC HD. Community 01x01 – Pilot. A lawyer (Joel McHale) whose degree has been revoked forms a study group in the premiere of this comedy series following oddball students attending a Colorado community college. Chevy Chase also stars.

10:00pm, FX HD. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia 05x01 – The Gang Exploits the Mortgage Crisis. Frank, Mac, and Dennis try their hand at real estate; Dee arranges to be a surrogate mother for a couple; Charlie squares off with a lawyer over the intricacies of the judicial system.

US Open

in reference to the tennis tournament :)

finally, there is a new men's champion--Juan Martin del Potro. He's 20 years old and from Evita...(don't cry for me Argentina). i actually got to watch from the end of the 3rd set on, rain delays ended up pushing back all the matches with the women's doubles final and mens final played on Monday instead of the more traditional Sunday afternoon/evening. i really don't know how he did it either--until i saw Federer mentally break down.

Podie won: 3-6, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2. so Roger actually won more games but half of those are worth nothing when you lose a set tiebreaker. On TV there were talking about how Federer hadn't lost a US Open match in 2200 days, or since 2003 when he lost to David Nalbandian; which effectively cleared the way for Andy Roddick to win.

Some of you might know how much I dislike Federer but if you don't it's because he is self centered and conceded. All he cares about is himself and if he's not winning it's not because the other player is better it's because he's off his game. He only knows how to play when he's winning and doing well; like Tiger Woods or Peyton Manning.

I just think it's mind boggling to think about such a massively tall building "randomly" dropped in a city. look how it DOMINATES the skyline! imagine if that was in any of our cities? wow.

Clarification

so last night i updated my status to be "Speedballin'. Minus coke and heroin = ballin :)" since i'm sure this actually makes no sense to everyone (except a couple...) here is the origin:

2001, soundtrack to Lara Croft: Tomb Raider i know, wtf lolz? it's actually quite good! there is a song on it called "Speedballin'" by OutKast that I thoroughly enjoy. it even evokes memories of riding around in Patrick's Quest and listening to the whole soundtrack from his mini-disc player! :) that soundtrack also contains the original Nine Inch Nails song "Deep" (this is one of the few non-halo NIN CD's i'm quite proud to own, very rare!)

anyways, i had no idea what speedballin' meant or even alluded to until i said something about it one day and someone asked if i was referring to the drug mixture. well, no. turns out a google search or urban dictionary look up will tell you it's usually a common reference to the combination of cocaine and heroin. so, since i was having fun last night i decided i was clever and funny by posting my status as it appeared :p

CYP

Went to a "Charlotte Young Professionals" (CYP) last night at the Westin hotel downtown. it was actually a pretty good time, all the people there were friendly and it was cool to talk to anyone/everyone.



I had a moving boo boo on my finger so a couple days ago I put a bacon band aid on it. what else, right? A girl I met there noticed it and knew what it was! She thought it was cool and we talked for a bit, lol.



Young professional with bacon band aid? haha, perhaps I'm just young but they still let me join? however, they expect at least the income of a professional--beer was $5+ for crappy domestic bottles/a couple things on tap but nothing impressive (bud, , coors, miller, corona, heineken/sweet water, yuengling, etc.)

This was also my first experience riding the LYNX on a weekend night into uptown. and it was a success! it was actually really crowded, so i guess that's cool. had to wait a little bit for the train each way but it wasn't bad--Kyle and I just talked and played on our phones. overall good night, part of a guantlet of activities this week/weekend. tonight = OSU vs. USC @ 8:00pm on ESPN. and, hopefully during commercials/halftime the US Open will be on (CBS) unless they're STILL on rain delay...been a rough couple days up there.

7th Floor Crew
